Overview
Simon Mortier focuses his practice on data protection and telecommunications law, both in an advisory and in a litigious capacity.
He has been working on all areas of GDPR compliance since the start of his career in September 2016. He also advises clients on the global challenges facing particularly the digital and communications sector as well as providing counsel on new technologies and their relationships with the use of data.
Results
- Represented a Belgian internet service provider in complex litigation combining copyright law, telecoms law and data protection law, which involved working on proceedings before the Court of Justice of the EU (case C-597/19 – M.I.C.M.)*
- Worked on a secondment basis at two major German Brussels-based insurers on GDPR implementation over the course of two different periods*
- Represented clients in proceedings before the Belgian Data Protection Authority as well as before the Court of Appeal*
- Acted as data protection counsel to various Horizon 2020 research and innovation projects for the European Commission*
